Welcome to the stage where players transition from group activities to a team-based format! At ABSC, we focus on developing foundational skills and a love for the game using age-and-mentally-appropriate development standards set forth by the U.S. Soccer Federation.

💡 Not ready for a team? If your 5-year-old is not quite ready for a game format, check out our First Touch Academy program for ages 3.5 to 5.

Program Format (Fall & Spring)

• The Session: 1.5-hour weekly sessions featuring a 30-minute practice followed by a 40-minute 4v4 game (4×10-minute quarters).
• The Teams: Coed, boys, or girls teams of 6–8 players.
• The Staff: Led by a mix of ABSC professional trainers, coaches, and vetted parent volunteers.
• Opening Day: Includes a New Parent Meeting, a free drop-in class, uniform pickup, and a free used gear swap.

Location & Times

• Days & Times: Saturdays or Sundays from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM. (Note: There are no weekday practices for this age group).
• Location: Ohlone Middlefield Park (Hearst Ave & California St, Berkeley). Subject to field availability.

Registration & Pricing

Key Fall 2026 Dates to Remember

• August 8: Opening Day Celebration & Uniform Pickup
• August 10–14: Practices Begin for U7–U10 teams
• August 22/23: Games Begin for U6–U10 teams
• September 5/6: No Games (Labor Day Weekend)
• September 7: Labor Day World Cup Tournament
• October 17/18: Final Regular Games
• October 24/25: Rain-Out Make-Up Games
• Oct 31 / Nov 1: No Games (Halloween & Daylight Savings Weekend)
• November 2–6: Final Week of Practices
• November 7/8: Season Ends – Unity Cup Tournament

Gear & Uniforms

• Included with Registration: Club uniform jersey, shorts, and socks (purchased during registration and picked up on Opening Day).
• Player Provided: Mandatory shin guards and either good running shoes or soccer cleats.
